I went with who called me first, because you may never get called by who you think is the best.

If an airline has plans to grow by X number of planes per year and has y number of pilots retiring over those years, then you can predict an approximate upgrade date.

However, aircraft orders can be cancelled, and the FAA may raise the mandatory retirement age. Then all bets are off as to when you may see an upgrade. My only advice is take the first one available. I did and got a free 737 type out of the deal. That recently came in very handy...
Thanks for everyone's inputs. The above is exactly what I'm trying to figure out. SWA's hiring was based on an age 60 retirement. Moving that to 65, combined with 500 new guys every year, could actually mean that it might take a new hire 8 years to upgrade as opposed to the current "youngest" captain's time.

Unless you want to MOVE to ANC, the fastest up-grade will be SWA. UPS was the longest up-grade. Until recently, it has been 10 to 11 years. Around 8 at FDX.

Today's rates....I know it could change...has me upgrading at CAL at the 3 year point to captain. Been there a little over a year. The most junior captain for March is 550 numbers ahead of me. Hiring 330 pilots per year. Puts it at about 2.5 to 3 years for Capt at EWR. Company projects growth of 6-7% per year. Should stay steady for a long time. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hope this helps. Just shows the numbers on the web sites sometimes are not up to date. SWA may indeed have a similar situation. So do your research with those guys too. Good luck.

I would like to move back to ANC. I was stationed there for 3 years with the AF and had a great time. Any guess what upgrade time is for ANC FDX? Anybody want to venture a guess about UPS ANC upgrade time? Unfortunatly SWA doesn't fly to ANC...yet.
