Unhappy B747 Captain to homeless

Saw this in another thread, with responses seeming to support the validity of the story/situation. Has anyone on here heard about this story? If the major points are true, then no words can describe the shame of what happened to this individual.

If true, perhaps he committed the "error" of reasoning that logic and truth trumps politics. History has many an account along similar lines...Billy Mitchell comes to mind.

I just spent the day with a friend of mine who is an Air France 777 captain. I printed a copy of the link for him to read and he told me the story is true. He said the guy was a little different but he didn't think he was crazy. He also told me he flew with the captain that crashed the A-320 at Habsheim, in Alsace, France the day before on a training flight. He told me the captain made him fly the airplane very slow and low just like what was done at the air show the next day, telling him how safe the automation was. Another piece of irony is the Captain of the Concord that crashed was also on the same training flight. There are only two pilots left flying who were on that training flight now.

Not to discount the above Pilots story but here's another link to a Pilot who thinks he didn't do anything wrong when he abandoned the cockpit of a DC-10 while on approach to Hong Kongs old airport and yes, he was a scab.

Its a very different account of what happened and doesn't even come close to representing what really went on inside the Flight Deck.

Very interesting. I have mixed sentiments, but this deserves a thread of it's own.

I've been told a quite different version of the story by S/O Pat Arter who was on the flight and went up to the cockpit....Capt Menafee saved the day.

On the second missed approach, the crew didn't fly the published procedure...they went straight ahead and by the Grace of God went through a notch in the ridgeline.

I just heard about this very story from an instructor at the school house! He did some other pretty strange things from what I've been told.

If you consider the fact that Airbus is subsidized by four, sovereign goverments, I am not surprised at all by this gentleman's situation. He is expendable;Airbus must succeed at all costs. FLY BOEING JETS!
