Life in a Kalitta 747?

Life in a Kalitta 747?
I was wandering if anyone working the 74 at Kalitta tunes in here from time to time. I see that I fall with in the mins to apply, I am just wandering a little about the lifestyle and corporate culture.
Home based?
Do they provide transportation to the duty start?
Is the aircraft always in the same location when you start your rig?
What are the rigs, X on X off?
Can I do 80 hours a month? I see the guarantee is 61.
Odds I'll die in a Connie from poor maintance?
Straight to FO, or FE first?
Thanks for any input, PM's are ok too.
Happy holidays!

Base is YIP, you can show there at 0001z on your first day or they will airline you from home (in the 48) to departure airport-typically JFK>EWR or LAX, though you will more than likely fly on your day off. 17 days on, 13 off/month most are all in a row. Some months ar good some aren't, 80 is definately not typical. Count on 60. MX isn't the best or the worst, I don't feel unsafe and won't go if I do. New cp is good and I think wil back crews on these kinds of issues. Can go fo if you have the experience. Rumors of hiring in 07-we will lose people to recalls, Fed Ex, etc.

I was talking to one guy a "Pro FE" with Kalitta, he was thinking I had a better shot at FO. What kind of experience are you speaking of, I have 121/135, nothing heavy jet though.
Had they hired street captains? I noticed the junior CA was hired Aug 04. What is upgrade time like. Sorry for all of the questions, itching to move on from where I am at I guess.

They will hire into the right seat without heavy time-I don't know exactly what they are looking for though rj fliers do get hired. Upgrade may take awhile. The big hiring has been done unless more a/c come on property. Only a handful retire each year and others leave as jobs come up. About 80 guys on the fo list and of course new hires are behind them.

We just lost a bunch due to a Northwest call back. We dont have enough crews for the lift requirement.
We have an awesome problem now, a problem where most companies like Kalitta wish they had.
Good luck. If you make it to K4, let us know who you are.

Yeah, I work for one of them now. Not sure if I should be grabbing the PIC here or getting the hell out. I’ll make as much as captain here as I would FO there. I have to believe heavy time would mean something in the log book. A couple of years from now when I finish my elementary spelling for airline pilots class I would like to apply at FED or Brown. But who knows a couple of years from now they may be the same company.
