It would be news to the crews... the last -400 we acquired was the 782 the ERF that was bought out of the dessert with approx 20 hours on the airframe. there have been rumors for over a year that the company was in negotiations to buy the sister ship to this aircraft but nothing has ever happened.
What do you "know" or think you know?....

He was proobably looking at the company website. It has had an announcment about Kalitta Air acquiring a "new" ERF for 18 months now. I keep thinking they will take it down, but like our manuals nothing is ever deleated just additions made.

Any official news on the classic fleet? I see S. America flying has picked up with the type lately.
As much as I love seeing the classics around. They desperately need to go. With the DOD unwilling to contract the -200's anymore, Connie's scheduled customers get the short end of the stick here with regular classic subs and mech delays.

Ah the rub... still flying contract DOD flight on the Classic in the AOR. Understand... Connie owes NOTHING on the classics we have available... somewhere around 14 or so flyable airframes. Utilization seems to be all over the map from 4 per day to as many as 8 or 9 flying in a given day. Connie is going to squeeze every last dollar he can out of those airframes...... and in typical fashion he will buy more -400s when HE thinks the price is right. Hum...mech delays... in nearly two years and 800+ hours on the classic I have hand less than a handful of mech delays. Maybe I am just lucky.
FWIW....a few DOD bases have "banned" the classic... that said... When DOD contracts with a "shipper".... they can hire whatever airframe they want as long as they dont transit those bases. You are correct in that DOD will not directly contract -200s.

Thanks for the info.
Looks like those NW freighters were a steal for Connie with that boneyard of his at Oscoda.
I'm a big fan of Kalitta. I got a tour of a 744 and the flight crew was fantastic. Sounds like I still have some time to check out a -200 before they're gone.

No... no hiring planned... we have 7 pilots on furlough. But with ALL things Kalitta things could change whenever they want
