I transitioned from the back seat of the DC-8 to the front with about 300 hours total time. That was the most nerve wracking experience in my life! Then 6 months later I transitioned from the 8 to the 767. You really have to work it hard to make the grade.

Other than actually seeing it, our DO actually sent out an email stating we had a new one followed by a vacancy bid for it...!!

email from our DO about such a thing is rare...

They operate 3 separate operations:

Kalitta Air 747
Kalitta Charters FAR 135 King Air, Lears, Falcons
Kaltta Charters II FAR 121 B727 and DC-9

so yes, this is a thread about the 747 operator. most of us have no idea what the Charters side is doing or who works there, etc

So yes as someone alluded to above the the company announced the purchase of a new to us -400 and a vacancy bid to staff it.
