Once furloughed the FE's have to recalled as an FE before they can bid to the FO seat. That is under the current CBA. If an FE is slated for furlough and the can pass the evaluation ride then they may be placed in class for the 400. With that being said the pass rate once in class is less than 18% or one out of six. THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY LEVEL AIRFRAME!!!!!! and making the leap from a warrior, 310 aztec, etc. is not easy.

Plus I think they have to have a certain number of flying hours in the front seat of a plane...not sure what that is, maybe 500 or 1000 hours. Not all FEs have that to start with.

An Atlas FE in the new hire class behind mine here at Silver, came to Silver for some 1900 time, but he washed out. I've heard a lot of the FEs (from Kalitta and other Cargo companies) came here for some time so they could go to the right seat of their company. I've enjoyed jump seating on Kalitta several times, everyone I've meet was awesome, seems this is the pilot group I could fit in with, maybe one day I'll be there.

What is the pass rate for the guys that came from Turboprops, with 1900, maybe some Saab drivers also? Thanks for answering my questions. I wish all you guys furloughed that you'll be back soon.

I think the pass rate for PILOTS from just about all backgrounds is pretty good. The trouble is FEs who have not flown a plane in 10 years or more and they try to get thru the 400 program. There is much different and more automation than they have ever seen and it is an important part of the program.

Back in 05 when I was in GS at Kalitta, our class for the classic had quite a few 1900 drivers from Great Lakes and they all passed. They are all probably captains by now. As long as ou study hard, show that you are trainable, and put in the effort, you should be able to pass any training class.

The reality is that some of the FEs trying to upgrade have minimal ME time and the bare minimum of total time mainly in piston singles....thats a tough transition for anyone.
