Seems there are a lot of rumors on the line about the sister ship to 782. The mechanics think it is a done deal, the instructors think it is a done deal, but the reality is, we are short staffed for the planes we do have, at least on the FO side, so if a plane is in the pipeline, there should be some training going on to staff the thing (like bringing furloughs back), and there is not.

DOD has said they will not contract -200s, they want -400s due to the fuel savings as a policy. DOD has not banned the -200 EXCEPT at specific bases.... Ramstein is one base I specifically know does not allow -200s anymore.
As I stated earlier....IF the DOD uses a third party shipper ...i.e...not contracting directly with the carrier.... the carrier may and have used -200 lift.
FWIW... a lot of the airlift flying into and out of the AOR in support of the 100,000 ISAF troops of which 66,000 are American is being flown by...wait for it......Cargo companies from the former Soviet Union.... ironic????
As for 782....christ the mechanics have been saying it was a done deal for a year......

The same couple guys keep telling the same bogus stories based on tidbits they hear from the top. I guess that's the downside of working for a ma n pa shop.
If flying 783 is going to be like flying 782 they can keep it. I'm tired of spooning in the bunks. I'd make an exception for Sky Jet though.

There has been a lot of training for the 400, 30+ got displaced from the 200 (CA's & FO's), however OE is the log jam with some from the first displacement class still to start or complete OE. I will have to go back to the sim for a PC as still telling me 6+ weeks before I can start OE and my 120 days will expire!!
