I think most of us are pretty aware of what Kalitta is and is not. Gets old listening to the same people b!tching constantly. Perplexing that some would rather stay and throw tantrums and not just go find their happy place. Congrats on the big D.

Perhaps you had false expectations when you started at Kalitta (applies to any other ACMI also)?

Jhugz went from the left seat at K4 to a legacy after extensive deliberation of his options. If you know literally anyone who's had the opportunity to deal with the training departments at K4 and a legacy but actually preferred the former, please let us all know. Or our contemporaries at Atlas for that matter.

If somebody at K4 with Jhugz's hire date had "false expectations," I expect it's the company who gave them to him before they made a hard about-face into some nasty old habits. Now he's sitting pretty at a legacy in his 30s. Our companies have yet again made the decision to be shambolic feeders to actual career carriers despite the whole planet thowing money at them to get their **** together and fly their freight for the last couple of years.

I'm not sure why J or any of the other recently departed would be even the least bit interested in our criticism. They walked the walk. Nothing sadder than an ACMI lifer crapping on an alumnus.

I don’t recall any “ACMI lifers crapping” on the gentleman….here or otherwise. I believe he poked his head in here post-partum to share his unfavorable opinions on his former employer. We all know our employment options and will either stick around for a while or depart depending on our personal wants and needs. I might peel outta here myself when I’m done bankrolling a couple college educations so I can get mine……

Birdsmash in the post next to yours was more the one I was referring to, if you're wondering who was crapping on whom. For my part, I'm just getting pretty tired of 60-something "yes" voters at K4 telling me how sour the grapes are at the legacies.

We can definitely agree on that. I place the moral destruction and future hope for this job on the 51%. Short sighted on so many levels.

Exactly this. They know no better.... I've never found anyone who says K4 training is good or even up to airline standards. Its like going to learn a plane in a garage in YIP.

Yep. Prior to here I was familiar with a gorgeous training facility. Tennis courts, swimming pool, full bar on site, dining hall. Pretty incredible. But have you seen our new training garage? Not terrible….

Lol yeah I have. Spray paint a piece of poop gold and it doesn't make it valuable. You still have the same mentality continuing on. Guess you missed the point of QUALITY of training.

The new training house is supposed to be state of the art, with all the buzzers and bells. But if the staff/instructors are not given a modern, useful syllabus,. With modern and contemporary subjects, taught by those who are passionate about mentoring and teaching, that new shiny building might as well be a garage. The “training” is really just a review, it is all self study and hope you pass. You are given the GOP, AOM Vol. 1-2, CBA, etc. etc. and expected to know it all in 2 months 4 FTD’s, 4 sim sessions. The instruction really comes in OE and beyond. Some of my instructors were getting the boot instead of the Covid poke. So they didn’t care one bit if I learned, passed, failed or for that matter keeled over dead. It was definitely not a good environment for learning. I’d really like to see them have a modern syllabus with focus. This was the least amount of effort on the companies part to train pilots that I’ve ever seen. We don’t have to hold hands across the finish line or have Sunday school dress up parties for graduates. But if you’ve lost pride in your job of teaching someone how to operate a B747/777 anywhere, anytime, do something else.

This thread has being hijacked.
THE KALITTA PILOT’S CBA: MARCH 2025
I hope our new MEC has got something great in the works. I hope they are ready to go to bat for a contract that makes Kalitta Air a destination. If we are 1/3 the size of Atlas and moving only 5% less than Atlas, we need to see how much we are appreciated by having a damn good contract. Show us the work rules, day rigs, double digit retirement, QOL at work, and show us the MONEY!
I hope the pilot group is willing to show true solidarity and let the MEC know what we expect from the company. And what we are willing to do for what is fair compensation/benefits for the job we do.
