Never really understood why people didn’t consider perdiem as compensation. It is higher value money because there is no tax.
1. Per diem is NOT compensation; if it were the gov would tax it as income. It’s great if you want to save it and all but some people choose to not eat the airplane catering or hotel breakfast all the time. This offsets that cost.

2. Per diem is NOT included anywhere in box 1,2, or 3 of your W2. Its listed on your pay statement but not on the W2 anywhere.

Kalitta pay is on par with Spirit/Jetblue and legacy narrow body. The difference is that at K4 you have to work for your 350K, at an LCC you game the system for 350k and spend alot of time on the app, and at some legacies that is min guarantee.

You guys do have one of the coolest aviation gigs around though. Having worked in the above categories and then a few K4 was definitely the most interesting.
Would you include Frontier in that group?

I knew a few old freight dogs who could manage to spend it, but their lifestyle was like Charlie Harper. Booze and hookers.

Nothing wrong with that! You live only once! As for as the peanut butter and ramen noodle types they are the ones that croak quick and their mail order philipina bride collects.

F9 pays crap, that is why they got the direct college grad flow so they can keep the wages bottom of the industry.

Had one 140+ month and the rest were 100-120 on my rotation.

The ICN Vortex was good to me like many others.

The rates are almost identical between Spirit, Frontier and Allegiant. You're saying the soft money differences are that huge?

Yes. The soft money is where the difference lies. By looking at the pay rates you wouldn't think that a B6 E190 CA could make mid to high 300s but some do. There are Allegiant pilots who make that kind of money but they seem less common and are probably senior at the right bases.
