Condos are gone, they now put pilots in a hotel in YIP. Mostly a 737 operation now and adding NGs. They have some level agreement with K4 for preferential interviews after 24 mos at K2 but I think it is a consequence of staffing. Had a buddy there that upgraded in less than a year and a half got a few hours PIC then was picked up at AA.

Just wondering, do they buy a ticket to where they need you, or only from YIP to where they need you? (Do you have to jumpseat if you don’t start in YIP)
What do the trips out of CVG look like? Is it start in CVG , to outstation, then back to CVG or is it start in outstation to CVG, wait for sort and then back to outstation?
Thanks for any help

You get tickets to training, and to Miami if you fly out of there. Usually jumpseat or drive to cvg (you get mileage paid). cvg trips are out (layover all day 8am-10pm)and back to cvg. We fly to Austin, Tulsa, Kansas city, Detroit, Bradley, Rochester, new Orleans, Nashville, cedar rapids, Memphis, Middletown, etc.
You get hotels everywhere we go, including in yip and in cvg and at the out stations. Usually get back to cvg around midnight and out to the outstations around 7am. In Miami, you fly to Haiti, Santa Domingo, Kingston, and a few other places.
There is some ad hoc flying out of yip but that usually goes kind of senior.
Feel free to pm me if you have any more questions. I'm sure there's stuff i forgot... duty is 13 on 10 off and we usually travel home on our last duty day.

.
Your post was factual. Adhoc goes all over the seniority list. It does beat the dreary DHL "out and backs", and you can earn extra $$. But good gawd, adhoc is far better than flying from ****hole MIA to third world countries every day.

Definitely not. Despite some of the rosy-sounding posts on this thread, I can say from experience that K2 has one of the most difficult schedules in aviation. 4 legs in the middle of the night/early morning, sleep all day, 5 nights in a row, to the same place over and over. Get the weekend off, then do it all over again for another 5 nights. It takes a special breed to like this sort of work. It's a nice enough bunch of folks here, but your pay and QOL at Mesa is drastically, drastically better. Assuming your dream isn't to fly multi-leg night cargo for the rest of your life, the only reason to come here would be a 737 type rating, and in this hiring climate, it's simply not worth it.

The market is crazy right now, just hold out for something bigger. Had a buddy flying a Pilatus two years ago was hired by K2 and within 14 mos was hired by Delta then 10 months later he was holding B737 CA reserve in ATL. Be patient my friend!!
