There are, of course, some here who have always had their hearts set on one particular carrier. There are also some pilots who've had a long road to get here, and know K4 is their last stop. Management has decided that incremental improvements aren't likely to affect these groups' decisions one way or the other, and they don't care to try. It's the attitude they've had for most of Kalitta's existence.
They ought to be more concerned about the pilots who could imagine being satisfied at a reasonably improved K4, are mathematically literate enough to understand how much they could miss out on by staying, but are only recently making serious motions towards the exit. If the level of discourse, YTD attrition numbers, and high-profile departures from the CP's office are any indication, the attrition of this group is likely to accelerate beyond the company's ability to hire and train.

Honestly I wish the MEC would have taken this tough stance when they had the chance to make a measurable difference in the negotiating process a very short time ago. It’s just ****ing in the wind now. Opportunity lost. I can honestly see and understand all sides presented here. We should have a better deal. If you can drive to work at a legacy or big box…you’d be crazy not to. And what he said wasn’t wrong…..if you didn’t want this contract, why did you ratify it? Yup. Good question.

In the past 3 years since the management re-shuffle occurred, 5 Chief Pilots/Asst Chief Pilots, 3 Director's of Training, Sim instructors and multiple Captains making $300K + per year have left. This is no longer a career airline, at least not until some serious changes happen, including getting rid of nepotism in the Flight Ops department.

It’s not all about the money, it is about the lack of any sort of quality of life. The turnover in multiple high-level positions is indicative of what is wrong, yet our astute management team believes the problem is the pilots. With this attitude don’t expect anything to change until and unless multiple aircraft are parked. When the company announced they were parking the 767’s to pursue additional long-range aircraft, they did it with a smile on their face. The truth being they parked the aircraft because they don’t have pilots to fly them, and cannot fulfill the contract with DHL.

We are collectively doing just that. All three legacies plus Brown, Purple, and even some to Southwest. And we have pilots in all different stages of leaving; the company knows of those far enough along to have put in a notice or send a PRIA request, but there are plenty more just now starting to fill out apps and work in earnest on leaving.

The DHL part is not true, DHL wanted to reallocate the 767s to lower cost carriers like Amerijet, 21 Air, and Cargojet. As a consequence of pulling the CMI aircaft, they offered to buy the K4 tails which was agreed to. You sound very bitter, every airline is suffering manning issues. The sell of the 767s was not prompted by manning it was DHL economics.
