No, he didn’t “tell everyone to quit”.

Of course the DO didn't literally tell everybody to quit, and the immediate implications of the meeting are that OT trip pickups are protected at 150% of either the block time of the trip you accepted, or what you actually flew. The LOA can be found in our company document app.

What the DO actually said could be paraphrased as: Since places like Spirit and Atlas are having pilot attrition problems too, management sees no need to improve our contract to be competitive with theirs. Adjust plans and expectations accordingly.

Atlas was bleeding heavily right after our new CBA came out from the arbitrator. Management new they had to do something. Now we have LTD to age 65, and a 2% DC to our 401k, with 100% match up to 10% (I.E., if you put in 10%, the company puts in 12%). This still won’t be enough, and I suspect that they’ll have to up the retirement again in the next couple years. Time will tell.

Good foresight. Wonder how things pan out after May and then before peak. Keep hemorrhaging and maybe the tide will turn in the form of some more cheddar. They just were one of the many at the job fair last week in MIA. More folks looming around than I thought, but in/out is the name of the game as normal and not a new normal.

Care to amend your statement?

Just received this from our MEC “Of great concern to many of you during the call it was stated that if you are going to leave then leave; all the legacies carriers are hiring. If you stay, it’s probably because you can’t leave. The MEC feels that statements like these will only add to pilots’ desire to seek other opportunities.”

The majority of guys leaving are around the 2 year seniority mark. Yea, there are some some CA’s leaving, it’s a lot heavier on the F/O side.

Also, the tone wasn’t “get outta here…” it was more of a “if you want to leave, then leave…”

They want people who WANT to be here. This place has a TON of potential. Management just needs to realize that. A happy workgroup will definitely be much more efficient…

Yeah I agree with this. People are reading between the lines a bit too much I think. If you want drama….you’ll find drama. Basically ……if you grew up dreaming of working for Delta…..you’re not going to stay here. Everybody knows that.

Honestly I wish the MEC would have taken this tough stance when they had the chance to make a measurable difference in the negotiating process a very short time ago. It’s just ****ing in the wind now. Opportunity lost. I can honestly see and understand all sides presented here. We should have a better deal. If you can drive to work at a legacy or big box…you’d be crazy not to. And what he said wasn’t wrong…..if you didn’t want this contract, why did you ratify it? Yup. Good question.

There are, of course, some here who have always had their hearts set on one particular carrier. There are also some pilots who've had a long road to get here, and know K4 is their last stop. Management has decided that incremental improvements aren't likely to affect these groups' decisions one way or the other, and they don't care to try. It's the attitude they've had for most of Kalitta's existence.

They ought to be more concerned about the pilots who could imagine being satisfied at a reasonably improved K4, are mathematically literate enough to understand how much they could miss out on by staying, but are only recently making serious motions towards the exit. If the level of discourse, YTD attrition numbers, and high-profile departures from the CP's office are any indication, the attrition of this group is likely to accelerate beyond the company's ability to hire and train.
