Just to clarify some things.
First, for myself and others who went to legacies from K4 I haven’t run into anyone who left because they were miserable at K4. It was usually a hard choice that came down to money and time off. Frankly, if I didn’t live in a legacy junior base I wouldn’t have left. Even then I tossed and turned for four months until my class date. It came down to wanting to spend more to me with my wife (after 30 years we still dig each other) and my liver needing a break. 😃
Second, I have never heard anyone at my legacy badmouth K4. A couple even asked why I left, though most understood. All respect the experience K4 pilots bring. I’ve run into more than one former K4 pilot and all have fond memories. A few were thrown lifelines by K4 when furloughed and were grateful. We usually share fond memories of F Street, The Cinder Bar, Jet Lag... and whatever that place is in HKG. Its fuzzy.

Was it a bad move to leave? Ask me when I retire. Still not sure. In the past cargo was hit much harder by economic downturns. Heck, post 9/11 and the big recession are strewn with the wreckage of cargo carriers. I was doing a side job as a CP for a cargo 135 outfit in ‘08 and it got ugly. Fortunately this time seems to be different... at least so far.
