Are we heavy on 76 FO’s? 74 FO’s?

With the Chief Pilot’s Office considering temporary lifting of the seat lock, I’m curious as to how many people on either fleet would actually think about making the jump.

It sounds like they’re still doing the short course for the 777. Would prior 777 time be required to move from the 76/74 to the 77?
I had trouble consolidating on the 747. I would be assigned a trip just to see someone else take it. Got an extension, begged with scheduling, same thing kept happening. Finally I got the CP involved and finished at something like 145 days on day 15 of my trip.

Seems like it’s picking up again. I flew like a rented mule right out of IOE, they sat me down for high time in my second month out.

It seems to be who you know or how the stars are aligned. I’ve seen scheduling commercial someone into a location (business class), do a turn, then commercial them out again (business class) at a cost of probably $10-15K when someone was sitting reserve at the same location.

The seat lock may not get removed as they said they are "testing the waters", by doing so it may increase the overall training costs. Now there are a few 777 rated guys on the 74, that can get away with the short course but in the big picture it may not be financially viable.

Don't see a mass exodus from the 76 CA's. The top half of the senior CA's are there because they want to be. Middle to junior would be holding roughly the same on the other aircraft and with the flying right now still not going to make O/T so it maybe a wash, unless they want the big metal time.

One problem being faced is that there is a very high chance of CA / FO pairings especially on the 76, of zero to no crossing experience between them.

There seems to be a general misunderstanding of the Boeing 777 Short Course requirements. It is not just for previous 777/787 pilots. Anyone with Boeing glass time qualifies. All of the current and planned training is the short course until we roll out AQP for the 777. Target for that is January ish. But again, this is Kalitta and we do have a history of missing benchmark targets...

LMAO!!! Hopefully he’s provided with some extra space for his inevitable rant.

Regional captain here. I want to apply here but they have the 777/787 lock right now. Should I wait until they start hiring without that restriction or would it be alright to put in an app now? Basically will I get auto-rejected or just get added to the pile?

Add it to the pile. Get an internal recommendation as well. They will know who to email to get your app looked at when the 777/787 stuff calms down.
