Similar ratio in my class. Day one we were blue juicing and by the time we finished IOE most of the class had seen through all the BS.

A point I didn't see discussed: we have a very young pilot group. Most will not retire for 25 to 30 years. They will all be senior to you. There will be stagnation at some point in the not-too-distant future, can you tolerate 30 years in the right seat? When the economy tanks (it's overdue) the music will stop, the order book will dry up, and you'll be stuck in seat for a very long time. The big Three will be retiring as much as 60% of their seniority lists in the next 10 to 15 years.

The choice seems to be wait a few years now or wait a very long time later.

I'm skipping to the end from page 2. I get the gist and I agree with the original poster. I have been at jetblue for 10 1/2 years and I don't recommend coming here unless you just need the get the hell out of your current job and want to use jb as a stepping stone.

The "culture" here is a facade - nothing more. Our company wants us to do more - clean, educate the other work groups on SOP changes, bail them out of another poorly managed IROP, etc., but they don't even want to give us an average compensation package.

I could belabor the point but I'm just going to say one thing: NOBODY is leaving a legacy carrier to come to jetblue. Why do you think that is?

Been here almost 10 years. Hopefully leaving asap. This place is a failed social experiment. It's not the fact that everywhere has problems, It's the fact that we have those problems as well, along with the problems this place makes for itself on a daily bases. They give the other work groups the impression that we are truly all equal and that there isn't a hierarchy to follow. This place is a rag tag train wreck clown operation and don't get me started on IROPS.

I was looking for something profound to say... fins nailed it.
The only thing that's going to make it better is a complete contract.

Please support your MEC. Read the emails and be actively engaged.

How short the pilot memory is. AA was a failed carrier, what 5 years ago? Failed as in bankrupt.

Things change quickly. I have faith in our negotiating committee, I even have faith in our management team to stay profitable. That conbination leads me to believe we're in a good position for a fair contract....(in way less than 5 years).

I have difficulty recommending this place as well.

I'm apathetic about my company and couldn't care less about OTP, their "values" (they're NOT what they claim to be), their social agenda pushing (did you know we are "New York's Gayest Airline"?), etc...

At least at the other big 4/5 you are compensated much better and have established contracts from where you can start your next round of negotiations.

I suppose I could put up with a LOT of this crappy from management IF I were well compensated. But it makes it tough when you have to be subject to their crappy AND be 40% underpaid.

If I were looking for a job right now, JB would be close to the bottom in order of preference.

All of you please do leave ASAP!! That also helps negotiations. I'm pretty sure number 14599 at any of the big 3 will be a great place to start over at age 50 ��

What gets me even more is how obviously offensive it is that someone would use this facade of values to take advantage of honest, good people who want them to be real, and who do mean well. This hurts me to the core. I find it highly condescending because I basically live according to these values anyway without someone leading me by the hand, or droning on about mission statements. It's who I am. But, to use this approach, and then fail to follow the same values as a company, is going to have a bad ending. Not all people are stupid, and they can see this for what it is. I'm hoping that things will change for the better, or that a legacy buys us.
