The MAIN focus. We have a very long way to go. I fully support our NC, and fully believe they have done/will do a great job. Eventually.

Yes we should focus on making this place better.

My message is to the prospective NEW HIRE . I HAVE BEEN DISAPOINTED with jetblue and managements attitude and disrespect of our contribution. It WILL get better here but it might take years......YEARS I and some of you don't really have.
So perhaps focus your energy somewhere else. It takes a tremendous effort to interview, phase 2, train, IOE, etc only to discover you have to do it over again somewhere else. We lose most of our pilots from the <2 year crowd. That is a huge red flag.

That's the message. Don't worry about the cleaning.....sheesh. Stay on topic.

My opinion
Being fair, guys leaving with less than 2 years here is not a red flag, that is exactly who you would expect to leave. We are in a hiring environment not seen in many many years. Heck guys are not showing up for Southwest classes. Now that comment about 10 year captains leaving (leaving and saying they are leaving two very different things)is a huge red flag.

I am in no way defending blue here (shocking I know) but there are plenty of FACTS to make an argument vs emotion.

JetBlue is what it is. I don't know if guys aren't doing research or just have some fantasy about airlines. Did you really think management was going to respect your opinion? Here is a hint they don't and they won't and they don't at United Delta or American those airlines just pay way better and have CBAs. It's a well know fact that we were non union and are working on our first CBA so none of this should be a shock.

I have said it over and over again it is up to JetBlue to attract and retain and you see what they are doing in that area(nothing) but if anyone thinks there is an airline out there where Captains have vast amounts of power and that management takes their opinion into account while making plans(minus CBA rules) you will not be happy at any airline. We are meat in a seat.

Fill out your apps interview do your research and decide where you want to go. Just don't be shocked that JetBlue is what it is. A tier two east coast airline with a narrow body fleet, upgrades based on growth and few retirements until 10 years from now. Does it have a lot of potential sure does but who knows what will happen and who has the time to wait.

What is great is if you don't like it or don't want to come here almost everyone is hiring.

Why, why! Why would you fight that????

Come on! We are sooo far behind. Don't hide that or minimize that fact.
Nothing to add. Just wanted to second this.

i also agree. Can't see how guys can still defend every move management makes. They just slap us around and half of these guys ask for more

Captain authority has eroded everywhere over the years but I can tell you that from my experience in the jumpseat at various other airlines JetBlue is leading the pack in that department. I have yet to see a Delta Captain being chewed-out by a ramper like I did see on the line with Jetblue. It was simply embarrassing just watching this guy apologizing to the ramper for asking him to do his job. I truly feel that as Captain at regional airline I had more respect and authority than I will ever have here.

Kinda my whole point. We really shouldn't expect ANYONE to leave. We are just used to it. Sadly people get here and it's not what they expected.

I'm saying be careful, this place is not that great. Maybe not worth the effort for some.

Does Delta/UA have a lot of people leaving <2 years?

Not a lot (I'd WAG it around low single-digit percentage of newhires), and usually only to each other for QOL/commuting purposes (e.g. a UAL newhire who lives in ATL, or a DAL pilot who lives NorCal or Chicago).

I would like to thank the original author of this thread for expressing what a great deal of us are feeling about JetBlue. I too came to this company from a fairly long stint at a regional. I was so excited to come to an airline that on its face valued its greatest assets which are the people that deliver the goods to the front line customers every day.

Looking back on the two years I have spent here, I too would NOT recommend this company to anyone. Especially given the hiring environment going on at the Big Four.

From crappy quality uniforms, crappy reserve rules, janitor duties, crappy hotels, terrible work rules...positive check in, clown show ON time performance metrics, pass rider charm lessons...you get the point.

I came from an ALPA carrier, I proudly wear a fifteen year tie pin. I was involved with Pro Stands and CIRP committee work as well. So far what I have seen of our union here has been a major disappointment. My 2% union dues gets me almost a weekly reminder to " wear my lanyard". Really? Sometimes I feel the apathy of this pilot group is fostered by a Union that seems almost disinterested in the day to day issues facing the pilot group. Guess I should file a PDR....

Jetblue culture is marketing.Nothing more, nothing less. This company puts forth all this feel good value BS and what amazes me is that the majority of people I have seen here buy in hook, line, and sinker. This is airline business, period. Our labor is a commodity and their job is to get it as cheapest as possible.

I fully understand no company is perfect. I get that. However, I ask myself what is the trend. The big four are on a very solid trajectory of advancing the profession I hold so dear. It's time to move on...

Rant over.

I had a captain get handed a screw driver because the mechanic was too lazy to change the CAT 3 placard with PAX on board. The captain picked it up and did it. I would have just walked off the flightdeck until everything was signed off and done. Honestly the most embarrassing thing I have ever seen a pilot do on the job in front of passengers. How does that look to people to see the captain with a screw driver working on something in the cockpit?

I just wanted to thank you guys for posting your opinions. I have applied to JB for over 2 years and I just recently got the invite to interview. But now I'm only about a year away from flowing to American. I go back and forth between the two and have been leaning more towards AA. With this thread, it seems my choice is becoming clearer.
