Southerner, so embarrassing. You also present a false choice. You seem to suggest that it is either free pilot janitor or small fee for non-rev priveleges. There is a perfectly logical third option. The ones my peers at DL, AA and UAL have. I expect that option.
Dumpster dive if you want. I won't say I don't care, but you at least need to stop defending the expectation that pilots clean, even for non-rev. Our peer MAJOR-airline pilots do not have this requirement. End of discussion.

You don't get to "end the discussion." I'm not defending the expectation. I'm saying that's the policy, and we work for a company that has decided that's what they want the non-rev policy to be. You have recourse with this policy. You may:
1. Choose to not travel as a non-rev. Seems a little silly to me, but that's your choice.
2. Choose to leave JetBlue to find that greener grass. This one may be your best option if JetBlue makes you that angry. Life is short. Go be happy. Especially if you're senior to me. So long, farewell.
Otherwise, if you non-rev, comply with the policy. It's fairly simple.
As far as the choices go, I never said that cleaning and paying a fee were the only options. I never really offered what the options were. I said I prefer helping out the operating crew versus paying a fee, which is true. I do prefer that.

Personally, I prefer cleaning to having to pay an annual fee like I did at my last company. I found the fee to be much more offensive. Accordingly, I don't like the Mint policy, either.
Cleaning benefits the people who actually hauled my butt somewhere, and makes their day easier. It takes a few minutes, and is a small price to pay for a free ride, and hopefully, good service.
On the other hand, paying an annual fee only benefits the company.

I'm just shaking my head. Again, wtfff is wrong with u. We all came here for better. We're not all bitter. But I'm not going to put up with this company's BS. Something is not right with you and hyperboy. We all want the best for this group of pilots. Don't confuse happiness with dumbness. I want JB to succeed. This where my family eats from. But don't ever think for a second that I will bend my back and let them abuse me because you had it tough at your last job. I flew for 8 years at a legacies company out of Panama in Central America. I went to a crappy Miami base airline for 4 years. It was the worst. No privileges for traveling at all. I've been here for over 6 years. This is the best I've had so far. But don't get it twisted and think for a second that I'm going to drag my chest on the floor like reptile. I know exactly what I'm worth. Stop justifying your weird actions. You can commute on us, but don't fuc$ng dumpster dive. Cross your seatbelt and get the hell out. Go to work. That's why you're commuting. Don't justify this company's BS. Please, you don't make sense, just like hyperboy. It's a fact ,not an opinion. I want better for all of us.

Well that sentences seems to imply those are the only two options but whatever. The policy is clear, you must clean as a non-rev. It's as simple as that. We can agree on that. Where we will probably disagree is how to follow that policy while in uniform. A pilot should never be seen cleaning in uniform by another passenger. Ever. Passengers do not want to see that. We'll also disagree I'm sure that there should never be cleaning done by pilots otherwise. There are always more important things a pilot should be doing on duty. Whether it be reviewing notams, getting up to date weather, or just getting coffee. But you do whatever makes you feel good. Just remember that if you do miss something on that walk around, or in the notams or weather and there's an incident, your preflight timeline will be scrutinized to the second. Do you want to be in the cockpit in those moments doing your job? Or back trying to be the "good guy" helping inflight do theirs?
1. I don't clean while in uniform in front of customers. I hate swimming upstream. I let the customers deplane, then clean.
2. I don't clean when on duty. I never said that I did.

I've jumoseater and nonreved on Jetblue on occasion (I don't work there). I had no idea it was common practice for a nonrev to clean. I've always had great experiences and am gracious for the free ride. I don't think I'll be cleaning in or out of uniform going forward though. I've also never had a fa with the stones to tell me otherwise while I deplane.

Sorry for the thread drift, but a few months ago, the captain got a phone call at the gate, hung up, turned me and said that scheduling was asking if we would be willing to extend....he had told them yes. Without even asking how I felt. I actually felt fine and was willing, but I almost called scheduling to decline, just on principle.
