What an idiot. Way to bring down the profession. Good on you for questioning him.

I'm not "jumping all over you," and I certainly will admit that it requires a certain paradigm shift coming from the mil side, where mission comes first and everybody does what it takes to make the mission, to the 121 side, where it's management vs. labor a lot of times. However, a good union, and a good pilot group helped make the transition easy for me, and I fully understand that helping management with anything beyond what is spelled out in the work rules is a no go, and I behave accordingly. My point being, it sounds like you ran into a real douchebag, and he would have been a douchebag had he come from a regional or a mil background.

Perhaps, and I appreciate the mental shift military guys have to make when transitioning to the airline world.

I did my part to teach the military guys in our new hire class that they don't have to say yes. It took a lot but most of them got it before we left class

These are all teaching moments. Every new pilot to the airlines comes in believing in the company and the management decent. Why would they believe otherwise. Why would they accept the job if they hated the company?

It is the duty of each pilot to calmly educate those who are new or simply don't know. If you have flown with me then you know, on multiple occasions, I have spoken to fellow pilots about the cleaning during the deplaning process. During my FA brief I always ask to see each pilot. During the course of the introduction you ascertain the length of tenure of the pilot and simply request upon completion of the flight they do not don blue gloves and simply grab their gear and leave. I don't criticize their politics and add even if they clean on their own flights that out of respect for me and my aircraft please do not.

Its a simply process and one pilot at a time we are making changes.

I use JB to get to work most of the time. I will don the gloves after the customers are off the aircraft and comply with company policy by helping clean. Is ALPA going to fight to reinstate my flight benefits right away if they are removed because I do not follow a company policy? I don't think so. The association does not have any control over this. I do not agree with this cleaning policy but it is what it is. With that being said, I will not clean while on duty, period.

I love the dirty looks you get from F/a's when you deadhead and deplane with the passengers...still getting used to that. When they say this place had culture, this is not what I had in mind.

Make sure your seat is clean. Done. You "cleaned". It doesn't specify how much cleaning you're supposed to do.

Dirty looks? Rough stuff right there.

Just deadheaded last week. I have zero recollection of the FA's mood as I got off the plane. "Thanks you, bye..." And I'm on my way home.

Easy as that.
