Who else hates the dome light in the A320?

Just had to chime in gentlemen and ladies....the 737 dome "light" is all of 5 candlepower, maybe? It is of little illumination at night and can be outright forgotten in the on position at day as it can't be seen ever! The Airbus dome light must not be too bad of a light, FWIW.

I hate having the dome light on on red eyes. I like to run dark. Very few guys I fly with want it on and if they ask I will but most of us prefer it off. We are flying 5 to 6 hour legs with up to 5 hours being in the dark. We have iPads and it's easier to look at them with a darkened cockpit.

At Frontier, our checklist is an 8.5x11 sheet of paper that's laminated. I wedge it between the blue trim around the overhead panel and the escape rope access door. If I want it even dimmer, once that's in place, I slide a piece of newspaper between the checklist and the light. It makes things much more bearable. Also, you could just carry some masking tape and tape some newspaper up there.
Enjoy your nap.

I am thinking that the recent Delta crew over Greece would have turned the dome lights on if they could do it all over again. Your brain says "it's time to sleep" when it is dark and its inside of your circadian sleep schedule. Not saying that you won't feel like sleeping regardless at 0300 but it is at least a small attempt to trick your brain in staying awake.
