JetBlue Considering C-Series? Good Article
I have stated it before - the C-Series would make great sense at JB as an E190 replacement. Now that Delta and Air Canada have jumped into the CS100 and CS300 respectively, JB would not be the launch customer like with the E190. Risks would be minimized. Add the very comfortable cabin (2X3 seating, huge bins and more windows for better lighting), the fantastic economics and a range profile that would allow BOS-TUS, FLL-PDX, JFK-Quito or CHS-LGB at any time of year in the CS100, and the airplane makes a lot of sense. Delta loved the passenger ergonomics (and probably the very competitive purchase price per unit). Check out this article that also makes the case:

And no, I am not a Bombardier salesperson. I am someone who has flown several Bombardier types and I have been watching this program since inception. Do some basic research about it and you will be impressed - it is well designed and the GTF engine is amazing in terms of efficiency. Would be great to see in JB colors!

Who would buy the 190s? We'd probably take a bath on them. Considering many are paid off and not leases that we could return this has to factor into it. Plus Bombardier isn't as desperate as they were before the DAL deal so I doubt we'd get a smoking deal. Add in training costs, learning curve, new airplane issues I'm not so sure.

I'm with ya Puddy. I posted this in the other thread:
I think there is a very high probability of us getting the CSeries as an E190 replacement.
The E190 has had much higher maintenance costs than anticipated, in particular the heavy checks cost as much as the A320. The CSeries shares the same motor (main section, just a different fan out front) as the A320neo. I'm willing to bet we already have an agreement for heavy maintenance for our future Airbus NEOs and could easily add on some CSeries at favorable terms.
The CS100/CS300 would slot nicely below our 162seat A320s. It is a very efficient aircraft on par with the Airbus NEO, except a smaller size. Additionally, I think it is very possible that BBD could one day produce a CS500, which would wind up replacing our A320 Classic airframes. I don't think Jetblue will ever take delivery of another A320/A320NEO airframe. The future is the A321/A321Neo/A321LR.
But, don't listen to me. Im just another Armchair CEO!

Getting someone to take our current 190s is the big piece of the puzzle. We own 30 E190s and lease 30. I'm guessing we could return the 30 to lessors earlier than scheduled with some sort of financial penalty (to be covered by BBD) and we might be able to offload the 30 we own to Airbus in exchange for a sizable A321neo order.

I'm all for the cs100/300. The 190's are looking a bit tired in the cabin. New cs100's on business routes bos/nyc/dca, fresh seats, wifi, etc. Keep some 190's down in FLL and send them for caribbean turns. Really the only question I want answered is ... does it have a tray table?
