Right now it sounds like they would be targeting Q4 2021 for class dates. Originally, there was hope for Spring which got pushed to Summer and now leaning Q4 2021. JBU (JetBlue University) has been working on a training budget for up to 200 new hire pilots next year. This would have the University see about 26,000 training events in 2021, roughly 22K (2020) and 19K (2019). A significant amount of those events will be to accommodate the additional flight attendant that will be used in LR/ETOPS cabin. So there's hope but nothing guaranteed. JetBlue has definitely taken advantage of this scenario, so if they see a scenario where they need the new hires (2019 level capacity plus expansion for ETOPS), they'll pull the trigger.

On another note, having looked at the last supplemental bid, it appears those new hires that had started but not finished LOE may have been displaced to the 190. This doesn't sound great but given JFK 190 saw about half its roster move off the fleet, I think they will actually have to complete training for them in order to backfill the 190, which in turn triggers them off training pay (completion of LOE) and onto CBA pay rates.

Since we cleared the air about those with CJO’s swimming in the pool, I wanted to ask about those with interview invites from this past year that are on hold. Do you see them keeping our invites active when they do start hiring again? Or should we not count on it, and just plan on having to reapply when the next window opens? I only ask because if our invites become void and we do have to reapply again, it goes without saying how tough it’ll be to get called for the first few years after hiring starts.

I would say your guess is as good as mine. We'll just have to wait and see.

This codeshare with American: would we just be adding some American passengers to the routes we already fly (and vice versa for our pax), or would this require us to start servicing new routes through Americans hubs? I’m wondering how this will affect our route structure, if at all, in the event that this is approved.

Not sure on the first part of the question. I'll leave that to someone more knowledgeable.

As for the 2nd part, it will increase our northeast presence (JFK,BOS and especially adding a significant amount of flights to LGA)

They’ve hinted that we’d likely launch new routes/frequencies, especially when it comes to LGA (and some JFK and I think EWR, but LGA sounded like the big winner). But route structure wouldn’t really change as it relates to AA hubs imo, it would just be us adding more flights in the NYC/BOS region enabling a mutually increased customer base that wouldn’t otherwise work all that well if the partnership didn’t exist. At least that’s my take. Both airlines win with sharing FF/customer base + increasing bookable options in each’s ecosystem.

Ok, that’s what I kinda figured. We’d just be taking their passengers through New York. I guess that gives them a chance to pull out of NY slightly and mitigate their costs. I wasn’t quite sure how this would play out.

Does anyone know when we are expecting government approval?

At recurrent they said the application was in hand with the government.

So who knows when they will get around to it but the airlines did their parts.
