They’ve said a few times they were getting mint planes again before the LR’s and this was pre-COVID. So it appears this is exactly that. Plus the first LR isn’t due until Q1 and they explicitly said this plane is coming this fall in that memo they posted. My money is it’s the new mint but not an LR.

Ok, I must have missed that then. I thought all future Mint aircraft would be A321LR/XLR variants like stated in this article:

I think a lot of people are baffled. And I think this pic caught the company off guard.

I can just tell you I've heard from multiple people in management, both flight ops and commercial leadership we were scheduled to receive a mint plane in Q4. This was as early as last winter and more recently during early summer from my recollection. I don't know why they'd list it like that on the SEC statements.

Checks with what I’ve heard. I had actually heard our 7th or 8th NEO delivery would be mint. But anyway, we’ve been told by giggity and SL that Hawaii/Mint was going to be a thing shortly after Europe launches. Don’t think any of our 321CEOs will ever be ETOPS, and I don’t think they’d waste an LR on hawaii from LAX. So, that leaves an ETOPS mint NEO as the aircraft of choice to go to hawaii. Could help speed up our etops approval since they won’t let us use our existing NEOs for proving runs. If we get a mint NEO from airbus intended/configured for ETOPS, perhaps we can get our ETOPS proving runs going before the first LR is delivered. Just a theory though.

I'd like to think it's a new, exciting destination with great layovers...

but it's probably for Fall Open Enrollment for your less than great health benefits.
