I thought displacements didn't come with a seatlock? only vacancies, no?

I mean at first glance it looks like he might be #1 in base/seat after the downgrade. If he’s almost done maybe the QOL bump is worth it.

Are you one of them?

Does anyone think it’s a bit weird to see the amount of voluntary displacements awarded? Like I’m seeing folks getting VD from JFK 320 to MCO 320 in the 31xx range and BOS 190 to FLL 320 at 29xx? I don’t understand how it’s possible that someone would be displaced from those seats at that seniority level. If it was a vacancy award I could see it, but at first glance it seems like they processed VDs as a ‘preference’ rather than a displacement. How are people being ‘displaced’ to more senior bases? Am I missing something?

I viewed the voluntary displacements as almost like a pseudo vacancy bid, so not that weird once the dominos started to fall. Where people got hurt was by bidding a VD thinking they needed to do it to protect themselves in case they got displaced. I think there would be less confusion if they called it something else besides Voluntary Displacement.

Sounds correct ( and that's how I planned my bid), but in this senario it seems it was a ' voluntary bid', therefore, seat lock???

Yeah I think you’re right. I mean there are guys who upgraded on a VD so it seems like the VD bids were almost like a secondary vacancy bid.

If anybody in your seat was involuntarily displaced, and you had filled out a Voluntary Displacement bid, you were displaced (in seniority order) if you could hold the choices (in order) you had listed.

It is basically a way to get a seat you want, but only through displacement as a way of securing those extra rights.
