The union hit a homerun and should be praised. 5 hours of credit for 2 days off is not concessions.

And let’s be honest. 2500 AA pilots didn’t get WARN letters because JB ALPA agreed to 5 hour less credit for RSV pilots over 7 months.

A. What does Covid 19 have to do with ANYTHING in the past?
B. It’s not actually a concession-2 days off equals 8.24 credit
C. It did in fact save us until next May
D. It’s temporary. Either snap backs will tigger or it expires next May
*if we end up furloughed next May, we’re all in a world of sh!t

I think you’d be better served to focus on AA’s deficiencies Al.

Just some cocktail math.
Jb is burning 10m/day 300m/month
Money saved by cutting 5 hours a month 4.49m/month
Concessions saved 1/2 day cash burn or 1% monthly burn

Anyway, hope this codeshare helps us both. We need it.

Most of us here are more concerned with partnering with Doug’s albatross

We get your point that concessions will not save pilot jobs, at least not in the long run. I think we are all on board on that one. We learned our lessons post 9/11, hopefully. With that being said, this agreement just bought some more time for all of us.

I get it that it might be viewed as a concession, but as others have said, it’s a temporary deal (7 months), those 2 extra days off are worth more than the 5 hours and it will affect only pilots on reserve, which is about 20% of the pilot group here. It’s just leveling the field so everyone, lineholders and reserves, get paid the same 70 hours.

There is less flying for everyone right now and this codeshare will hopefully bring more flying for both of us.

During these unprecedented times, if that’s the worst thing we “gave” up, then I’m extremely happy. Our union killed it. They were the first ones in the industry to be proactive and do their damn jobs...you know, protect their pilots. As far as the codeshare, I hope it helps both of us, but it also make me nervous since AA has like 12 regional airlines do their flying as well. AA has been mismanaged for years-I think you’d be better served to direct your anger/frustration in that direction.
6 regional affiliates.

Also, why is it AA mismanagement that we are codesharing with jetblue, But not Jetblue mismanagement for having to codeshare with AA? We know you like your team better than our team, and we like our team better than yours. No one will be convinced otherwise with hyperbole. These are the kind of things that arent helpful.

Easy, you’re posting in the Jetblue board.

Because AA hasn’t figured out how to profitably feed their international operation in JFK shrinking their footprint there for the last decade. This has great potential to help both carriers greatly, allowing AA to fill their widebodies to the gills while allowing JB to top off their loads plus pushing back on the evil empire of Delta. But to think that American and JetBlue are equally managed to weather the current crisis is pretty laughable. Let’s work smarter, not harder and help each other out where we can regardless!
