Flew with a guy once who told me to use the "mini speed brakes" first, before using the real speed brakes.
I said, "I'm soryy, but training here was pretty pathetic. What are the mini speed brakes?"
He told me to extend the landing lights. "There's no speed restriction on those. You look it up!"
I replied, "You want me to look something up that isn't there?"
Part of the "Horrible Hundred".
Gup

As a 320 FO I've heard this a lot but never experienced it. Is this a real thing? Some guys have small d1cks and need to feel superior. F them. I challenge ANY pilot to not use the speedbrake on a 321 coming into Boston on any of their STARs, going into SAN, or LAX.
For every FO that uses the speedbrake, I've got 2 CAs that will open descent and level off 6-9 miles before the next required altitude change. There are sh1tty pilots in both seats. Don't take it personal.

I had one a few months back tell me to not use the speed break. I think he did do the landing light thing someone else mentioned. Then he went on to tell me he knows more about the Airbus than the check airmen and instructors on the plane. I tuned him out after that. Now I have to waste a line on my bid every month to avoid the A$$Clown.

It’s not a wasted line. I never had an ‘Avoid’ list until I came here. I think I have 3 folks on it now, should probably be more..... makes for a really long 5 day trip flying with some of these morons.

I do this exact thing. Haven’t had to here but I did a few times at the regionals. I have no problem doing it when I swap over.
