The bean counters have figured that being chronically late is cheaper than more capts on property.

He just said that San Jose would be a better option if it were called "San Francisco South," because people trying to go to SF may not search that airport. Seems like an easy software fix, but what do I know. My guess would be SAN is a bad choice due to lack of infrastructure. No airline has been based there since Pacific Southwest was bought by US Air in the 80s (I'm not sure if that counts as a West Coast airline that folded, or not).

This is pretty typical of this NY focused airline, but it's like saying people living west of the Mississippi going to New York won't be able to figure out that Newark is proximal. Certainly not an insurmountable hurdle.

Every time I've seen a weird code in there I've been a higher priority at check in. I wouldn't worry too much about it if you're trying to non rev somewhere. My guess is it's a passenger from another airline.
