I would say, not true. He had to win the primary first, beat a LOT of other candidates that weren't name callers.

It was not the only thing but it sure helped him and I like the guy.

Take Jeb Bush, literally groomed to be president with a huge resumé in politics and it all came to an end when Trump called him low energy. Bam Jeb Bush is placed of the defense and it’s over for him. Now he didn’t say anything that wasn’t true but the point is he said it.
