I was told this publicly, but not on Facebook. It was in person at a Vets in Blue event. I couldn't believe it. I asked the guy point blank, wait a second, you just got done telling us you want us to be loyal to JB and not leave if a major calls, but you want me to go to a regional for a few months and bail on them to come here? He smiled and said something to the effect of "that's just how it works." I knew then JB wasn't for me.

But other than the phase 2 part if they want recency that's what they want but they should tell you that or not let you interview unless every box is checked.
I interviewed in February. I was told I needed to go to a regional at the end of April. Should have come up before the "you passed phase two " letter. I was told that the pilot hiring committee was deadlocked. Would I do it again? I would have taken the corporate job I turned down in expectation of a class. And saved about 70K that I lost by going to a regional. Water under the bridge now. Not the worst year of my life but in the top three.

Event speaker. 9000 plus hrs at the time.Fortune 20 flight department consultant. Former 121 CA. I've told this story ad nauseum here. Yes, that's how they roll at JB. Astronaut? Do you have 300 hrs in last year? No? Can you go to a regional for a year then? Yep, six figures right to $400 a week as a first year FO on an aircraft I already had a PIC type and 3500 hrs in.

I asked.... is integrity a core value? But you want me to train on a regional's dime for 200 hours. Answer- do you want a class date or not? Uh, since I resigned my job when I passed phase II only to be told go to a regional I guess I'll suppress my morals since my family is accustomed to living indoors.

Watched 7 military guys in my interview group of 8 get the TBNT because of recency. 2 were at AA six months later.
How long ago was this because those passionate about Veterans have fixed a lot this including myself?!

I had two military friends that both attended Vets in Blue on two separate occasions within the past year and a half. . .both highly qualified recent retirees. One had a desk job in the past 12 months. He received an interview, was told that he would be hired after going and getting 200 hours somewhere else. . He subsequently went to Frontier, tried to get ahold of the person at JB who told him this after he was flying the line for Frontier. . .never heard back and is now at UAL. The other friend went to VIB, never received a call for an interview and is now at SWA. I will not take the time to write letters of rec or recommend friends attend VIB. In my experience helping transitioning military friends, it has not been positive.

Any mil guys who avoided B6, dodged a painful year on reserve. Good for them. This airline is for guys who settle for mediocrity--like I did

If you don't think I will you don't know me very well. BPF is the best thing we have here. I will gladly write the check.

While I appreciate the BPF and contribute to it myself the truth of the matters is that if we had the protections like the real Majors do, we wouldn't need to BPF.
