This is absolutely correct! They say they want to "display" that we are some of "the best pilots in the industry." Only problem is that THERE'S NO WAY TO TELL who is who or what. I'll just have to take the thing off in the terminal, roll it up somehow on the back of my bag, and wear either the blazer or sweater. This will be a hot mess.

Of course all of this is hear say

This isn't true. The average experience is around 5,000 hours. Also not true about the instructor, FWIW. Where does this stuff come from?

Honestly, Id love to see a TA before I leave, but I wouldnt turn down a class date waiting. I understand your position here and I would love it
But Ill never be senior enough on the Bus to hold the sked that I do now so its a push at the worst. Wish I could tell the future.

He's not far off about the total number of applications...he's within about 11-13%.

The average hours of newbies is down to about 4000TT.

Reading the jacket email I'm a little curious how its not a status quo violation, not that such a thing would stop em. It seems to me that part of the agreed upon compensation package is $200.00 a year for uniform allowance. Perhaps its a small thing but it seems to me they are reducing our compensation by making this deduction obligatory.

On the issue of Bozo leaving and others thinking that way. I'd have to say if you have less than five years here, a decent amount of time left and commute anyway, the decision to go is a no-brainer. I'm probably a lifer but that's only because I live in base and have some serious family issues that make commuting a no-go item for me.

So I will ALWAYS have to bring the blazer with me when it's not summer and then the overcoat too when it's colder? So it's not a leather jacket replacement, it's an outer layer that you can't (according to the uniform policy manual) wear indoors?

I thought the policy was an attempt to have us look appropriately dressed for the season. Well, the key to us being appropriately dressed is having more than one option. Nobody in the real world wears the same coat from September first to April thirtieth. Being Boston based has taught me to dress nice for the conditions and you'll match all the other business people on board. They don't wear the same thing in October as in February as in March.

You are probably right. I don't remember the exact number when I heard it this week, but it was near where it has been fit the past few windows. It is NOT under 2,000 yet.

As of Monday I don't think the number you quoted been met. Window closed Tuesday.

Thing is, I don't know if they really care. So long as they have warm bums in the seat who have passed training, they don't care. Maybe if they are having to spend more money (additional training) for some newbies, then they'll care.

Contract Above All.

I heard we got less than 1400 in the first week and we're used to getting 4-5k. After the first week it tapers off and we don't have nearly what we're used to seeing. Fwiw.

Agreed.

I prefer the look of the overcoat (the leather is tacky--flame away!--especially when guys wear it a size too big and it's sloppy and hanging off their shoulders). But it's TOTAL BS to force a deduction from the uniform allowance for a company-mandated change. What f*&king planet are they on??
