In his opening remarks, St. George said he was "disappointed" by January unit revenue trends and cited the impacts of the holiday calendar, a 2016 winter storm and the opening of new markets.

....

I really hate when the calendar sneaks up on a company like that, where's the notice...poor planning.

A 2016 Winter storm. Start looking in the mirror. Your cost cutting down to one crew scheduler/ dispatcher/ gate agent/ etc may not be working out...poor planning.

....

Astute observation. I Bozo, am tired of working at the regional named Jetblue.

I was just starting to think about sticking around, but it seems this is destined to remain strictly an East Coast airline.

Stock buyback, extra cash on hand, no where else to hide the $$$, stock price has capitulated on the high end, mgmt 101 says we're sold to the highest bidder in the next 2 years.

Just ask yourself if you were a stockholder after the quarter call, would you continue to hold?

You add aircraft faster than you fill them... adding a couple new 321's in December but they start flying in January. RASM is going to be in the crapper.

-8-9% below our projected RASM numbers for January. (Anyone remember the RASM from the winter 2 years ago during the winter irops??)
-Possible reduction in P.R. and Columbia (320's replacing 321's in P.R. and 190's replacing 320's in Columbia, few seats... let's increase fares) so now we can free up and put larger planes on busier routes
-No customs in LGB (all our slots are already full. Would have just reallocated slots/ no growth)
-No defined date for a pilot CBA (what did we think the answer would be)

I'm guessing, but maybe, the company is trying to paint a sloppy picture during our negotiations to lower our expectations. When we start posting negative numbers I'll start to worry.

Oh ya, how much money did we make last quarter and all of 2016.

All of this and more. If investors were truly concerned about the call results, the stock would have taken a dump. It didn't. Off 3% is within the movement of a typical day. The open was near the 52 week high anyway. Even as I listened to the call I did not sell any shares.

The net income (PROFIT) was $172M for the quarter, $759M for the year. That's the best year ever, and beat the record 2015 by over $80M. Keep in mind that this is NET profit after we paid cash for most of the 2016 aircraft deliveries.

No no no it's the end it's over.

Guys who were here over 10 years ago know what being close to death as a company is really like. I have only been here 5 years and remember my first PS check, it was like 100 bucks.

Not trying to be rude but as bluejetdork has said plan for what we have now. Jetblue is and always be an east coast airline. Will we grow out west, I have no doubt. But I doubt it will ever match the size of our east coast operation. It's like waiting for Alaska to get much larger on the east coast.

For those of you who've considered leaving, but are waiting to see what we get in our first contract...

Think about this. Our largest aircraft is an Airbus 321 that MIGHT have a pay differential with the A320 once a contract is in place. Consider that most pilots senior to you will always be on that plane and will be senior to you until they separate from the company.

Now look at the big 3...most of the pilots senior to you will move on to bigger equipment for the pay. If you CHOOSE to be a captain on the same planes as JB flies your seniority in the left seat could increase higher AND at a faster rate than it would if you were to stay at JB. Plus, you'll get better pay/benefits right out of the box (if you have less than 2-3 years here).

The bottom line is this: which company do you think will always have a better contract? United, Delta, and American or "New York's Gayest Airline?

Don't delay going to a legacy if you're thinking about it.

Good luck to all of us.

Gup
