Can we talk about things that can actually pressure management into giving us what we want?

I can think of at least 100 things more effective than lanyards. Next topic please.

Oh you mean two engine taxi for safety? How about APU on for redundancy? Wait wait wait, you're talking about no brake drop till after D0? No? Hmmm..... Ok let's try that one item that'll ground the airplane!

I'm sorry, where did you want this to go?!? The best we have via emails and unity is lanyards, the rest of this stuff is a given... Hint, Hint, Nudge, Nudge.

First rodeo?

The JBALPA MEC has specifically asked that our pilot group wear lanyards in support of the negotiating committee.

You can wear pins as well if you like. Currently we are not aloud to sport the ALPA ties unless something has changed.

I think we all want an outstanding contract. Sooner the better. Unfortunately the whiskey and baseball bat Barney methods are not approved. We have to play the game. Be careful what you write. I'm guilty of posting frustrations on the Internet, but these posts could come back to haunt you. There are multiple cases that show that the company has the upper hand when it comes to status quote. Even saying don't pick up RSA could be construed as an illegal work action. Don't pick up open time could be seen that way too. Happens to delta and United pilots and it cost the union $ and pilots had to fight for their jobs.

Dont become a chip that has to be negotiated back.

Things your CP would say:
Be safe
Follow your SOP

Things your MEC would say:
Be safe
Follow SOP
Wear a lanyard

Things will progress. This is a marathon. As of right now things are on track. Support your MEC and negotiating committee. It's good to be motivated, just be motivated and smart.

Hope this comes across ok, typed on phone.

Anyone else get the survey the other day? I felt most of the questions were very open ended. Q. Tell me what's important to you in this new contract......A. Well, how much time do you have? Q. What do you think is an appropriate raise for year one? A. On what aircraft? Whats year two/three look like? Whats the going rates at the time of signing? So many variables. I would much rather another detailed web survey. Either way, hopefully it helps the MEC on our current position.

That survey was only sent to a random few people to gauge a few topics. Might be best to delete your post with detailed questions

I suggest you spend some quality time getting acquainted with the RLA. The makeup of the NMB and it's authority. It seems you are woefully lacking in understanding of the process and procedures under which we and the company must follow within the negotiating process and the restrictions and protections once a CBA is signed.

Does ALPA have anything other than lanyards? I personally just do not like lanyards - I prefer the clip on my epaulets. I support the union, but I wish they had other options than the lanyard.

Same here, I hate lanyards. The clip is nice and keeps your ID out of the way. I never wore a lanyard before I came to JB.

But now I wear one and it says 'ALPA' on it.
