So if no one picks up RSA or VDA or open time it forces the company to offer open time at 1.5, I have seen it just once since our new PEA. That forces them to either pay us extra for understaffing or hire more guys. But I am sure it's more effective to all wear our lanyards. That's what really scares management into giving us more compensation.
As silly as it sounds but from being from a family in airline management for 80 years, lanyard's and such are effective signs of unity to management. They do notice and they keep track of these type of things. Really? Is it that big of a sacrifice to ask our colleagues to wear a lanyard and ALPA pin?

Yes, as long as we are distracted with the quality of our shirts and lanyards we can't focus on the real issues. Like paying full union dues with no contract, and still being under paid. Let's all wear lanyards that will show them. I am sure they really care, as they sit back and watch record profits come in made off our backs. Keep us underpaid and understaffed. Saves them more money. They know guys will just pick up open time and RSAs to be compensated like real pilots. Your lanyard has nothing to do with money, and this has everything to do with money!

I don't know about you but I can and I'm assuming the guys and gals volunteering their time for the union have the ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects at the same time. Especially since they have a very good and extensive committee structure set up. Paying full dues? Of course you are going to pay full dues. Been that way forever. Why should we be special? The negotiating process can only go as fast the company and NMB allows. When people stop helping the company and show full unity will there be an incentive for the company to expedite the process. The union has very little they can do because the RLA is very much skewed in the company's favor.

I hadn't been wearing mine, mainly because some CA went to town on me for not wearing it, before I even got it. I mean this guy was a tool and I thought "no one can force me too and I'll be damned if some jerkoff like this is gonna win". I was wrong though. I mean the CA was wrong for being a tool - you aren't going to win people over by being an tool.
I now wear my lanyard as a sign of unity.
All the rest of the stuff in this thread, well.....

If you have issues like this tool. Please... Please get in touch with your alpa rep or P2P volunteers and it will be taken care of. Obviously this is not the kind of attitude we want and he was wrong. I wouldn't want to wear mine either just to spite him. Every place has its 5%ers... We need to pull together and small things like walking around 3300 strong ALPA lanyards is a small step in the right direction.

Thanks for supporting your pilot group!! Please wear your lanyards!!!

Are we not meant to wear an ALPA tie pin? Most airlines measure your ALPA support or lack thereof by the Tie pin not the lanyard. Just wondering?
