I flew with someone today whose is waiting on a class date at a legacy and has an interview at JetBlue...JetBlue is located close to where they want to live, but we were crunching #s and the difference in pay, ps, and retirement contributions are going to make it real hard for them to turn down the legacy...

And the big three would be wise to hire up as many Blue guys as they can in order to head off our growth.

I think the vast majority of us with <5 years here who don't have an app in at the big three are just one more email policy change away from filling out their apps.

Time will tell.

Just from a numbers standpoint, I don't think JB can afford to dilly dally.
We are down to a fraction of the apps we used to receive, and 0-3rd yr attrition is on the rise. Most guys in the 25-40yr old bracket stand to make more and have better QOL at one of the big4. (I know everyone is different I'm painting with a large brush)
We have growth plans, but if you can't fill seats to fly them whats the point in taking aircraft orders? With AA, UA, and DAL hiring hundreds or thousands every year the pot to pick from is going to go fast and we are not attractive to a new hire right now under our current compensation package. If you make it to the 3year point you'll probably stay. But I have flown with about 2 guys in recent memory that don't have plans to try and go to another airline if they can, and I'm flying with the 1-2yr guys the most.
I've heard it from the CPO, and recruiting, we have an attraction and retention problem that needs to be addressed and shiny new planes and fast up grades aren't the answer like it was in 2006. WE're a necessary cost of business and the cost just wen't sky high... pun intended.
At some point training and retraining bodies for the same seat will become cost prohibitive or time prohibitive... which costs.
just my opinion on the matter, but I think this will move forward faster than many expect. No, I don't have a time frame, and maybe it's wishful thinking but that's my logic.

Exactly, it's taking too long. 2 more years, are you kidding me! What is the hold up. When the drive was going on none of the hard ALPA gang was talking about it taking 5 years from voting to contract. I knew that everyone would just start throwing insults at me for saying it's taking to long. Must be new, must be first airline, what else? Wear my lanyard. I said I am optimistic that it will be a good CBA, I pay my dues, read my ALPA emails, vote, and wear my lanyard. The fact is that in today's environment it is taking too long. Fact! Nobody is going to want to work here. Maybe we can get some more 172 instructors and career FOs from the regionals. It's past the point of waiting for everyone else to get a contract, they already got it. If something isn't out by March, we are ****ing up. That is reality. This isn't about history, it's about what's going on right now. Stop blindly trusting the Union just because you give them money. After March, someone screwed up.

Yes but many more are hired than transfer so your seniority grows. For every transfer in my first 2 years, 10 or 15 guys were hired and 10 senior would vacate jfk. Thats not static of course.

Sorry for the thread drift guys. My wife listed for Mint on a flight today. Mint was full so she got a Core seat instead. I can't seem to find a way on MyIDTravel to get a refund on the $75 Mint fee since she already completed the flight. Any ideas?
