Currently 16% here at JB but 18% is becoming the new industry standard so that is what we will expect as well.

Who needs a JCBA most, union or management?

New TA? Do you mean the ratified contract extension?

Common sense would say management needs this JCBA more than the pilots do. This gives us incredible leverage.

Our spineless MEC will insist otherwise.

Yup, a JCBA is a requirement of single operating certificate and all the efficiencies that come with it…. We will have the most leverage in the history of this airline and will never likely see it again. Like you said our MEC will gaslight us to insist otherwise when a paltry underwhelming TA is inked lacking profit sharing.

Not gonna happen. Not this time. PSing IS “industry standard”. As is 18% 401k. As is a big base pay jump. Along with a number of other improvements. ANYTHING less than that ain’t gonna fly this time. Sorry but those culture bucks don’t pay the bills!

Six months ago this pilot group voted otherwise, based on the urging and pleading of our MEC. “We asked, they said no.”

The MEC also successfully convinced this pilot group it was a good deal to give contractual relief in exchange for a 3% payraise AFTER the contract amendable date. Anyone who has gone through a few contract cycles watched in horror as the group was bribed with their own money they would have gotten anyways in the next CBA’s signing bonus. That’s what a signing bonus is FFS, it’s traditionally the sum of all the forgone yearly increases that would have taken place after expiration at the new friggn rate!

The MEC is a special kind of stupid. And the pilot group just follows along with the BS after the sell jobs. Always an excuse why they can’t achieve industry standard. It’s sad.
