at JB we can list in at our home airport.
so even though fort Myers isn’t a base, if it’s your listed home airport, we can list there as well. Many times the trip would look something like rsw-jfk DH home(back to rsw) the next day.
the company gets coverage for last min cancelations out of base and in return we get 200% credit for the trip including phantom deadheads from our domicile and back.
it can be very lucrative for minimal time away from home.

And definitely. Got paid 30 hours to go from my home to MKE and back. 6 hours away from my house total. The extra 10 hours over the normal 20 was because NK didn't have a flight back to my base that day that I wasn't going to take anyway, so they paid me an extra day to save $250 on a Delta flight they didn't need to buy.....

So, as a pilot who might be out of touch with the reserve rules at JB...the reason I used to pick up open time on reserve was that they would be less likely to call me for the rest of the month.
If I recall correctly, if you were in the same reserve "silo", then the pilot with the least amount of block time would get called.
Sooo...pick up something that is tolerable right at the beginning of the month and then hope you never get called again.

LCR goes by bucket and lowest credit gets first trip, but for SCR credit doesn’t matter anymore. If you are LCR you can bid for next day trips you want to fly via the “RSV Opentime window” which will help increase your credit so you’re less likely to get called. One thing to keep in mind is that your next day requests for trips don’t count once you hit 40hrs credit for the month, something to consider.
Dont pick up on your days off as a RSV unless it is PREM/VDA/RSA. You will not get paid any extra and will be working for free picking up regular trips from the OT pot.

For SCR it is bucket of days available, then earliest legal reserve.
NK here. I actually wouldn't mind some variation of what I had at my regional.
We had an app and when a trip dropped everyone in the bucket would get a notification. Most Senior yes or most Junior no would get the trip. The default answer was no if you don't answer.
