Yep, right up until the economy changes. Then they will all be 220 FO’s if they get to keep their job at all. Not saying we will be any different, just you can’t hide from your seniority in a downturn.

How is LAX any different than those other undesirable cities you’re referring to? If anything it’s worse.
The company isn’t going to open a domicile unless it makes business sense. It’s always been an airline that takes people from NY and Boston to Florida at it’s core. They’ll never open another base as a means to try an curb attrition. I’m not even sure that would even solve the attrition issues. Just head over to the Frontier or Spirit forums, who both have Midwest and Florida bases for that answer.

I'd argue that JBs core is just has much transcons at this point, especially with Mint as large as it is now.

Except that DL is currently hiring 200 month through next summer. Still tons of retirements. Someone hired in January 2022 already has 1500+ pilots under them. And eight of the last class of 45 were JB pilots.
I hope no one furloughs, but things happen.
And I don't think one change in the economy is going to result in 2000+ furloughs.
And if it WERE as bad as you are saying, yeah, it would be just as bad at JB.
We all get it- if you are a JB CA you are probably here until retirement, but no one can honestly contend that a third year JB at LAX wouldn’t be economically better off jumping over to Delta and upgrading in a couple years instead of waiting to upgrade at JB. That’s just insane.

We just went through the greatest flying downturn of our careers, and how many saw furloughs or displacements? What major was allowed to go under? Delta will be retiring 5000 people by the end of the decade.

Several JFK Bus pilots commute from SEA/PDX to JFK because the flying out of LAX is so terrible. Pilots keep leaving because LAX sucks AND it's senior. That said, there are tons of west coast pilots who might stay if they grew it and/or improved the pairing set.
I'd argue that JBs core is just has much transcons at this point, especially with Mint as large as it is now.

Boston is often rated as one of the most desirable places to live in the country (best schools, hospitals, relatively low crime). And to have an employer who has a significant presence here is a dream to
many.
When people say “worst”, I believe they are only talking about affordability?
So, I know I’m stating the obvious; but pilots who are the same seat and seniority often have wildly different net worths…
It’s my belief that most towns at the 35-45 minute mark from metro Boston should be affordable to the average Jetblue pilot. Average household income in MA is 80k a year. And 45k per capita. This puts Jetblue pilots solidly in the upper middle class in MA
many.

Until the well dries up, and then it becomes considerably more expensive. Which, with all the regionals ratcheting up pay, we are right at the precipice.
Agree, but it’s even worse than that. Unless NK ups their first year pay (and prolly brings everything up to at least the current B6 payscale, B6 will be purchasing an empty shell. They’ll get the order book and the senior CAs, but that’ll be about it.

Redeyes galore followed by day sleeps into back side of the clock DR trips landing late in LA. The trips are absolutely terrible. I did it for three years before bailing. If you like night flying and short layovers, you’ll love it. Very commutable on the front end, but next to impossible on the back.
