I mean….if you’re going to fly 15 hour/3 days anyway, might as well get a meal and rest period out of it. It also seems those flight’s OTP are better than the rest of the operation from the few times I’ve looked. I don’t think it solely has to do with telling chicks at the bar you fly over the pond.

I agree with this. Aside from it being a 15hr 3 day with a redeye (yeah that sucks, 5 trips per bid period as a lineholder), it is like operating a different airline than the usual JB. I say this because the plane is always there ready and waiting, no delay unless mechanical (which is minimal), and while its a redeye, you get to sleep for 1.5hrs to 2hrs while in flight. The rest of the operation was falling a part and it was like nothing was happening in the SQ bubble. If you don't mind redeyes and it works for your commute then you won't mind that part, especially since you rest while flying.

Also, while its the same 2 locations (Paris next year, I heard from Robin). The overnights are in great locations and there is a lot to do in London, and that's besides checking out a different restaurant everytime you're there (no it's not just fish and chips lol). But it's not for everyone, some like it and some don't. Will get more attractive as we add more locations of course.

It's not horrible as some might make it out to be. Some just don't like the word "redeye" which is very understandable. A nice sleep is like sex, unless I'm doing it wrong

You know what’s funny… it seems to me the people that complain about the SQ flying are the ones that don’t actually do it.

I've been tossing the idea of bidding for it on the annual. How long are you locked in for with sq? Is it just the standard aircraft lock or is there another one with sq?

Just until the next bid. Either supplemental or annual. Normal equipment lock applies.

I was thinking about this the other day. As far as I know, all we have is an equipment freeze. I would think you could bid for the SQ with an effective date of Jan 1st (for example) and then bid for a regular A320 slot with an effective date of Apr 1st. That would allow someone to check it out without being stuck there in case you don’t like it. Of course you’d need the seniority to bid back. Does anyone know the answer to this one for sure? Definitely worth an email to a rep if you’re interested.
