Good thing he didn’t just show up then.

Yes, I was really hoping for someone less educated to be in charge of our network.

i agree. corporate profits are so low in the usa. it's embarrassing. clearly, people that dropped out of high school should be running all major corporations. i'm sure that would turn things around.

Thread drift. But a good conversation.
Plenty of examples to illustrate both points. Higher educated vs self made. yadda yadda....

"Don't tell me what you know, show me what you've accomplished" -Henry Ford

But the man I consider the most accomplished man of the 20th century did his undergrad at Yale. So....

Of course my interpretation of previous comments is that of over generalizing of higher education into the stereotypical ivy league box. Not specifically Harvard MBA's.

He took an airline that was in its death throes in the northeast (AA) and gave it a lifeline. He turned us into THEIR regional airline. Why are we taking their crappy flying in the northeast? Why should we be feeding their transcon and transatlantic flying? We should have let them shrink even more and moved in with our own aggressive international plan. The network is a mess. He crammed 50 pounds of crap into a 10 pound bag in Boston and New York. Why aren’t we adding a focus city in the sunbelt like RDU, or BNA, or even MSY like Breeze figured out. Where are the airplane orders like UA has? Why is Breeze getting all their 220s so much more quickly than we are?

Nice guy. Great at answering questions about cities we are or aren’t flying to. But I’m not convinced he’s such a great loss.

I doubt he was the only guy that signed off on the NEA

I wouldn’t blame anyone for moving on from any job if it pays more or gives them a better qol. But, it does seem odd timing wise.. leaving after 14 years at a company in the midst of the NEA roll out?

He’s the one the MEC negotiated with. He’s the one who took credit for it on all the pocket sessions. He’s the one who said he “owned it” at the event in Orlando.

In any event the American deal is still a **** deal for us, the network and schedule still suck, and the fleet plan still sucks. He was responsible for all of that.
