While I hope it’s not true, my guess is they want to scale it up. They have the ability to throttle and slowly ramp what they need there by covering EWR stuff from other bases initially as they’ve always done, so it’s probably better to start small and add to it as necessary as the operation grows and matures there. This at least gets them some reserves and will cut down on a few hotels and limos. They can assess further with a supplemental or on next year’s bid.

I was thinking twice this. With 70 departures planned, I think we think it would settle around 140-150ish per seat. LAX has less departures and around 120 per seat I believe. Maybe start smaller and grow into this?

I guess they could always cover extra segments with a limo from jfk unlike lax where it is a 5 hour flight to get someone there

Another perspective. 70 and 70 is going to be a lot of movement. I’m guessing there are going to be very little negative numbers. So you got positive numbers in all B/S/E. Maybe the company is looking at it from a training standpoint as well. So maybe they want 140 but want to see how much they need to allocate for training. We all know we do not have the training through put to be able to do 350 this year and next year and how many other trainings events this creates over the next year.
