I would argue it’s better for everyone for us to attempt to come to an agreement that is acceptable to both parties. The company doesn’t have to risk an unfavorable arbitration ruling and we don’t have to risk an unfavorable arbitration ruling.
Not saying we will come to an agreement, but it certainly de-risks the situation for everyone.

My guess—a cease and desist would harm both parties here. The purpose of scope is job security, and the NEA (so far) led to more pilot jobs. I’d imagine that’s mgmt’s contention and it’s easy to picture the arbitrator turning to ALPA and saying, “Do you really want me to cut the baby in half?” Hopefully there was at least a threat of the cease and desist getting enforced to give us some leverage, because at this point it feels like there should be some punitive measures to stop this kind of disregard for our CBA in the future. The arbitrator could also want to keep his hands clean—dismantle a multi-million dollar deal or set a precedent for completely disregarding legally established worker’s rights? “Hmm, why don’t you guys try to work this out?”

that’s not how arbitration works, unfortunately.

Now that the recovery is here and they are hiring, furlough protection is no longer the carrot it used to be. There should be more focus on QOL aspects and pay increases during these negotiations.
But most importantly, limiting the AA codeshare more than the last proposed TA did. 100% of our international flying and having AA RJs hub to hub is not acceptable. Protect scope at all costs.

Except this is one side nailing the underage babysitter. Not gonna come to an agreement until he/she stops nailing the babysitter.

Except those negotiating on our behalf and who represent us were trying really really hard to get us to grant ourselves permission to be able to just sit and watch the first time around. So, should go well for round 2.

That’s what scares me. We’re sending this same group into negotiate a 2nd round. I’m less than optimistic. Aside from the current 191 council, I have zero faith in the rest of them.
This is what I’m worried about. The same people are going in for round 2, when they already caved the first time for basically a pat on the back. Especially after the absolutely ridiculous, over the top sell job the first time around. My confidence meter is pretty much pegged to the floor this go around.
so united pilots are getting 13 hours of pay to get vaccinated. does anyone know if our mec is negotiating with management on getting us some vaccination pay? I can't imagine no one has brought this up.
