No, I would happily accept it as a co-base, and would prefer it that way. A co-base would have more flexibility and a larger trip mix...
but please, continue to speak for me and tell me what I want.

Hopefully the union will not entertain the idea of a new co-base without getting something serious $ in return. Yeah I get it, the NJ/PA crowd wants an easier drive. But we get paid now to go to EWR, we get hotels in EWR. Heck why not throw in HPN and BDL into the co-base?

Making EWR a co-base would be a horrible idea and benefit only a few people. Every single person (besides you I suppose) I’ve talked to about it who drives from PA/NJ has said they would want it to be a separate base and not have to deal with JFK/LGA. I cannot fathom why any pilot would give up (for the whole JFK pilot group) limo/DH pay, plus provided transportation, for EWR trips. This is one of the few areas where we have it better than the other majors. I’d be good with EWR as it’s own base. But a co-base? Hard no. Thank God you are in the minority on this. If the union gives this away, I am going to be irate.

Shhh stop giving them ideas. Someone who lives in westchester or Ct will chime in and talk about how they would love those to be co-bases because they could have a shorter drive—but only some of the time because they still want the trip mix flexibility of a huge base.

Yeah, a 1.5 hour train ride, or $140 round trip uber from kew each time you are called should make all the commuters happy.

Knowing this group it will be given away for a uniform allowance increase. I mean the company can just do it anyway right?

They'll argue that EWR gives greater commuter options. However EWR is a commuter option as it stands now. At the end of the day commuters will have to choose which state to crash in, which side of the river. Then the bid will become a mess..Those same NJ/PA guys will bid the best trips (even out of JFK) and hold onto them as bargaining chips for later (or not). I just see a colossal cluster...

It's just like, my opinion, man.

I understand why some wouldn't like it. I don't expect it to ever happen. I know others who live near me who would like it as a co-base. I don't like driving to JFK, but would like the option of JFK trips... and since our "Global Open Time" has been such a success (hard sarcasm), a co-base would be the only way to fly those trips. We all have different needs and wants. Nothing will make us all happy. I can't imagine it would be good for commuters sitting SCL who would have to cover all three. That's how United does it. And I believe DL as well.

And world keeps spinning round.

both of their rsv systems are 10000% better then ours. Lcr is everyone and can only be transitioned a few times a month. And their scr call out time isn’t defined. It’s just stated as reasonable amount. A easonable amount to get from your crashpad in Kew to ewr is a lot more than what blue jet would give us with our new and improved reimagined, greatest new reserve system ever.

I think others covered this pretty well, but having an additional base creates additional seniority options to exercise for the group, and limits the burden the company can place on JFK reserves. You want the easy drive AND the access to pick up JFK open time when it suits you. That's what you want. Many/most want the additional seniority pockets/opportunities created by having a separate base as well as the the hotels/limos/comp associated with not having a CO-base and the limitations on what burden EWR flying can be placed on JFK reserves.

Like you said, can't make everyone happy, but a CO-base is pretty clearly worse for many more people than the small number of people who want their cake and everyone else's.

No need for aggression chip.

Any murmurs out there of how arbitration is going?
