JetBlue Latest and Greatest
In order to level the playing field just a little, we rely on contract attorneys and negotiation experts “on loan” from ALPA National. I am not exactly sure if their fiduciary duty is to Jetblue ALPA or ALPA National... or some combination thereof.

This is exactly why I no longer feel comfortable with our reps. Just about every pilot in here has been burned by loose language at one point or another. I just don’t get why they wouldn’t make this TA airtight. Even if it was, the length is a dealbreaker. I hope this thing get voted down.
Our negotiators are pilots who volunteer for this. The company has the best contract attorneys money can buy.

Fun fact: They have an in house union, because they needed union protection from their employer, a union. Every few years ALPA staff goes on strike… against ALPA, a union.
I'm no union buster, and I'll tell you ALPA is the best thing out there other than ALPA, but they are definitely a double edged sword. Watch your back.

Just got off the phone with a former SWA manager. Even he was floored by the terms, especially the length. For the length alone, he couldn't imagine why it would have even gotten to member ratification.
If the TA fails, Jetblue can still enter into a joint venture with AA.
They just need to maintain current ASM ratios and the compliance window is three years instead of five. What’s so hard about that?
Reference CBA 1.F.2 and 1.F.3

Did you all ever think that ALPA isn't on your side with this? ALPA has always followed the money, and they have wanted the AA pilots on board for many years. ALPA is gaining popularity over there, and a merger would trigger a referendum. ALPA will throw your small group and comparatively small union dues under the bus in a heartbeat to use you to get AA on board. So of course they are trying to give you a hard sell on this TA.

This flaw in this theory is that if it passes, AA pilots will have all new reasons to hate ALPA, not join them. Here you go, we're going to screw you for your lack of decent scope, because we want you to like us and come back into the fold. How does that work, exactly?
