Idk why people do this stuff.. I'm sure she was given a few thousand to transport this stuff. Not only did she lose her job but she also is spending time in jail for a long time.. But also, what's going to happen when she gets out?? You think the guys who asked her to transport this are relatively happy about the fact that they now are missing 3mil???
When did humans stop being born with brains?

Not so sure it's a lack of brains as much as it's a lack of a moral compass. It's also hubris and greed. Guaranteed this wasn't her first time. Unfortunately, she's probably just the tip of the iceberg of crew members and airline employees doing this crap every day.

What I find mildly interesting is that much blow was obviously leaving the LA basin and not being sold in it. How much stayed behind and didn't get pinched?
My bet is she was PROMISED a 5-figure payoff upon delivery. And as the article stated, it is unlikely she would've been entrusted with that much cocaine on her first (few) run(s), nor would she have continued to do it if she wasn't getting paid really well for taking the risk(s).
She was charged with possession with intent to distribute. I'd like to see a law that adds 5x to any criminal sentence for any abuse of industry credentials and the trust that goes with them, with the additional time added being hard and fast (read: no chance for reduction of any kind for any reason).

(An article on the Internet says a drug mule was paid $5,000 to transport 3 pounds of cocaine. He was sentenced to 2.5 years)
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers flagged Lawson for a baggage inspection after his Caribbean Airlines flight landed. They said he appeared to be "extremely nervous" and he confessed that he had swallowed 115 pellets. He was taken to hospital and passed the pellets over the next five days.
He told federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations that he was expecting to be paid between $4,000 and $5,000 for the smuggling trip.
Authorities said there has been a recent wave of so-called "bodypacker" smuggling arrests in South Florida, with most of the suspects arriving on flights from Jamaica.

I want to know why it's the TSA's job to enforce drug policy in the first place. How does her actions have any affect on the safety of the flight and the lives off those aboard?
Sorry if this has already been mentioned but are we really talking about the elimination of kcm for something that has no impact on the safety of the flight?
Obviously what she was doing is illegal but that's not my point.

Interesting.
$5k for 3 lbs. So call it $1700/lb.
This bust was what...60 lbs?
At that rate, she would've been paid $102K for hauling that amount. I was short a zero in my previous post.
And 2.5 years for 3 lbs....that would be roughly 50 years for this woman.
No. You are.
