I remember my first instructor during IOE at Eagle telling me: "stay out of the crew room, nothing positive happens in there." He was a genius.
I was hoping a few of the more well adjusted members on this forum can answer some questions I have about working conditions.
What do your trips look like? At mid range seniority, how many days off per month? How long for an A320 in BOS? How does RSV work? Are there any minimum hours of pay per day? Can someone (or a few people) post their schedule or direct me to where I can view some samples? Maybe a bidding packet. Thank you

Since all new hires seem to be getting NY, can some guys chime in if you use the bus or train to get to the airport from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn? I have a buddy I can crash with there, but if I can't make the callout, what's the point? Thanks.

There won't be much E190 hiring through September. I think 4 guys between now and then.
Unless you are the top half in a class with E190s, you likely will get the Bus. The E190 has gone senior in the last few classes. It all depends on the class demographics. Several in the last few classes were already typed on the E175/190, so they bid it.

Very easy! Take the subway (R train) to atlantic terminal, long island railroad to jamaica station, and the air train from there. Id think it should only take an hour and 20 tops

New hires have been about evenly split between JFK and BOS.

I bet it'll be another 3+ years before I could sniff "midrange seniority" BOS320 tho. That would happen a lot sooner on the 190 or in JFK I think.
I would think that you'd have a descent shot at a BOS320 out of training. If not, you could likely bid over during the next system bid, and find yourself in Boston a few months later.
320 Reserve in Boston is 12 months at the minimum, and longer in most cases. Reserve periods are 3-6 day blocks, 10 hour RAPs, 2 hour callout, usually 18 days on a month. 10 hr Long Call is rare - it is subject to reserve availability, which has been especially low of late, and it only happens in the middle of the week when it does.
Trips vary widely between 1 day turns and 2-5 day trips. Day turns bid senior but a few always end up in open time.
Hope this helps
Best of luck

My 2¢. I've been here for just over 2 years and I'm on the very low end of a line holder on the Bus in BOS. As Jr as I am, I'm still able to credit around 90 hours with 12-14 days off a month (6-10 nights away from home), usually one or more weekends off. My initial bid does have crummy trips but I'm usually able to bid out of red eyes and the lousy island and NYC layovers. So I'm happy with the schedule I end up flying (I've only done 3 red eyes since Jan, all by choice). Living in base is huge ... obviously.

Good post but Long Call Reserve must be really rare on the Airbus if you think it's 10 hours. LCR is 14 hours.
