I had the phone screen this week and was told that date options for the interview will be Feb 1st and 15th along with a March date.

Is it simply a matter of them being more inclined to hire people earlier in the process? Fewer people to compare you with?

They tend to assign classes based on date/time you interviewed. Also for reasons mentioned above.
