jetBlue Hiring

Seniority is based on you physical age in class. Oldest guy picks first and so on. On the first night there you will bid on base and equipment. They will only let you bid on what's open and they want filled.
E.g
1 LGB 320
5 BOS 190
10 JFK 320
They like to have 121 guys help the mil and 135 guys get used to 121 ops and the flow of operations off of a terminal.

Any insight into how the company views folks w/o 121 time?
Looking to break into 121 next year while bypassing the regionals and JB has always looked pretty good. As for me:
4800TT
1500 Part 135 (80% was PIC)
750 TPIC (mostly PC12 and caravan)
1200 Turbine
200 Jet
Bachelor's degree
Talked to a JB captain recently who claimed they like to hire 50% 121 folks, 25% military, 25% random.... Accurate?
Also, how big is LGB base and what are the chances of this out of training?
Finally, planning on talking to recruiters at a fair next month, any tips?
Thanks all!

I appreciate the quality info Tom...
Love to hear how they determine seniority in a new-hire class and how a/c slots are issued?
Also, how junior is MCO?
Any idea how much LGB flying is red-eye?
I like the idea of minimum time-zone crossing, seems like east coast base may be the ticket in that case. Appreciate any other tips! Cheers!

Junior 190 MCO FO in the last bid is right at 2 years. 320 is about a year more.
Quite a bit of LGB flying is up and down the left coast, but some does come transcon.
For minimal time zone crossing you want to be on the 190. They only fly in 3 time zones: Mostly Eastern with some Atlantic and a bit of Central thrown in. The Bus does 6 from Atlantic all the way to Alaska..

I second this! Guys come here, realize, and turn right around. Unless, that is, you like unicorns, blue latext gloves, envy your trash man, love working for peanuts or just like saying "it's better than my regional!"

I'm just curious where you expect people to go elsewhere, if they're offered a job at JetBlue? You can pretty much count out AA since over half their new-hires are flows. Both UAL and Delta have heavy preferential hiring agreements. That pretty much leaves Fedex, UPS and SWA, and those places are very competitive.

So you're saying blewjet is made up of rejects who couldn't get a job at the "competivate" airlines? This is a fallback place? That's exactly right, it is, and management treats us just as much. You proved my point, sometimes you have to work a little harder to get to a better pasture, this one isn't it.

I'm curious, after you got here and realized how bad it is where did you move off to?
