Can anyone tell me when the invites for Vets in Blue are typically sent? I remember an earlier post that someone had sent the VIB folks an email requesting an invitation, but I can't find their email online. Is this even an acceptable practice?

I've got the phone interview tomorrow. I'm a little worried about first year pay (golden handcuffs). Does it feel like you guys are close to a contract? Is the pilot group generally optimistic about it? Also any one willing to give their estimated first first year take home pay?

We are still a long way from a contract. Months if not an entire year.

You are looking at 2k/month during training (6 weeks without break) before taxes and deductions. You will get $26/day for food at the Lodge while in training. Once you leave Orlando training center you will get your monthly guarantee at 75 hrs (reserve). After taxes, deductions, union dues, etc. depending on your situation you will prob bring home anywhere between $2600-3000/month. This is just an estimate.
We are making progress on the contract, half of the sections are TA'd, but we still have ways to go.

First Year pay sucks, no matter what. That crap needs to go! The worst is actually training pay! Conservatively I would just bank on monthly reserve guarantee, especially if you are going to the Airbus, you'll be on reserve for your first year anyway, on the E190 you will hold a line quicker and might be able to bring in a little extra by flying more, but in the end, it is not all that great either.

If you are first year, do not go to work. Stay on rsv, do mil leave, do anything else but go to work. Do not fly a line, do not pick up extra trips. That is how you make the most money for your time in the first year at Jetblue.
