I stand by my comments that the pay is pathetic. The company will say that they can't raise the pay because of paragraph 3A in some pilot's PEA's. The fact is they got around 3A by offering a retention bonus after 1 year of $6,000. Then, the company took the bonus away (1/1/15) and cut the pay to $2,000/mo. Again, the company spin will say that newbies actually get more due to the $26/day to spend in the cafeteria. Not everybody wants to eat cafeteria food for 6 weeks, however.

Not saying our newhire pay/lodging is superb by any means, but I'm just curious about the newhire experience at DL, AA, UA, SWA in terms of pay and lodging and I guess food/per diem is included as well.
Doesn't DL still make you pay for part of your hotel? What would a newhire there and at other carriers net, after paying for a hotel and meals etc?

cool so back to BUF and SYR for me. Do we wonder through BOS or do they try keep crews in their own base? (Out and backs - or leave JFK not to return until day 4)

I'm with ya there. You gotta get a break from the compound ...

I ate at the lodge for the first time last week. Pleasantly surprised actually. For $8 the salad bar cant be beat(if you leave hungry you did it wrong), and they had some fish stuffed fish thing that didn't suck.

But, yea, you need to be able to get away from the cult.

The pay is so much higher at DL for newhires that you can easily pay for your own hotel out of pocket and still be earning more than at JB. True, any new airline job should pay for single occupancy hotel during all of training, and I'd bet many DL pilots would agree. However, you'd still come out ahead with the D.

If you want a lot variety of trips then bid to BOS. Some trips you'll be in BUF but other times you can get SJU, MSY, AUS and a lot of Florida layovers. JFK has them too but just a lot less options since the size of the 190 base is smaller.

Well, good for you! So because you're not happy that means everyone else is too?!?! Get real. You know you can leave at any point from the Lodge... I did, and it was nice.

I stand by my comments saying that the pay can be better, and would rather stay at a hotel. BUT, that's not how things are. Hopefully they improve for future newhires, but just because things can be improved does not mean that it makes things miserable.
