I was sept 29th interview and was offered dec. 2nd, but had to defer. They mentioned on the phone that jan 6th is a small class and is pretty much full with guys that defered before me. And jan 20th also has deferments before me, and I might make it into that class, if not the 20th, then definitely a feb class. I received this phone call about a week before thanksgiving.

Ouch, I hope the defer was worth it. About 40-50 pilots went ahead of you then.

Side note... I noticed in the recent system bid a bunch of guys bid over from the 190 to 320 JFK.

Yes. They were awarded CA last bid but had not started training yet. So they were free to bid whatever they wanted.
They probably realized they were going to be on reserve for a very long time so decided maybe it was better to stay an FO.
