We lost a good chunk (20ish?) of AA recalls over the summer before the equity payout deadline, we also are losing about 40 DL recalls over the next few months while they get assigned classes. I think there were 44 eligible recalls to DL, so only a few decided to stay. Some CAs are also getting hired off the street at places like UA or AA. I'd say we will lose 30+ CAs and a similar number of FOs for 2013.

Apologies because this site won't let me register since I am not a pilot. As an HR person I commend JetBlue. But please know they get a big tax credit for hiring Vets. It's the right thing to do, but let's not get misty eye'd over what the company is doing for Vets. I would guess someone said, "Hey, we can get a tax credit..." And it happened!

How much do they get?
Maybe just maybe they wanted to do something good and help vets out.

Unfortunately, you are thinking like a pilot. If you are management, you need pilots, can draw from 2 separate sources, and one source gives you a tax credit, you draw from the tax credit source and tell the advertising and public relations department to spin it accordingly.

I would go with they wanted a known quantity of people that they know will make it through training and tend to be very loyal.
Look, if you only want to go with the tax credit thing that's fine but a bunch of guys have interviews because of vets in blue.
But hey now we know why Delta, United, SWA and AA like the military guys so much.....tax credit.

Pilotpayne you are new to Jetblue and with that comes a steep learning curve.
Jetblue does nothing because its the right thing to do. Jetblue does everything to enhance its public perception and save money...at all cost.
Do you know how much community service Jetblue does for Autism? A tremendous amount. Do you know how much they cover on Jetblue insurance? ZERO.
Jetblue has the worst insurance of any major airline. This is a well known fact. Did you know that a group of pilots lead by the founder of BPF have been trying to set up a program to provide Gap insurance for the astronomical short falls Jetblue insurance has. This Gap insurance would be made available to Jetblue pilots at NO ADDITIONAL COST to Jetblue.
What did Jetblue say? NO. Why, because it may encourage pilots to use the insurance more.
Jetblue refuses to allow pilots to purchase AFLAC. Why, because it will encourage Jetblue pilots to use the health insurance more.
Why does Jetblue target military pilots? Because your military pilot has access to tri-care which means one less pilot using Jetblue health insurance.
Why did Jetblue change the FMLA policy when no other major airline has? Because this allows Jetblue to make it more restrictive and difficult to file a claim.
We all appreciate you are pleased with your job and I am certainly not knocking that but to believe that Jetblue is doing anything that isn't self-serving is putting ones head in the sand.
By the way sign up for BPF.

For what it's worth, and I mean no disrespect to the military guys (I'm from a military family), but we have had our fair share of military guys with difficulties in the 121 training environment, as well as difficulties on the line. I would think, based on MY observation, that a prior 121 guy would be at least as safe a training bet as former military.
As far as comparing Blue with other airlines, there is enough disparity between them and Blue on other issues that the comparison on hiring is nothing more than a rectally extracted opinion, and like my daddy always said, opinions are like rear ends...everyone has one...some stink worse than others.

The pilots who perform the best during Jetblue training are those with previous "glass" experience or those who study and put the effort in.
Jetblue training involves a lot of self study. Those who expect to be spoon fed typical fare poorly.

You can't in one breath days it's no additional cost, then in the very next sentence say they didn't want to do it because it might increase the costs. (More pilots on insurance = more costs.)
I don't care about the issue at hand, but if you're going to make an argument, don't contradict yourself in the same paragraph. Do what BlueTruth does, and wait a paragraph or two to show how stupid you are.
I'm a yes vote now, but it dang sure isn't because of you or Blue Truth. It's in SPITE of you idiots.
